wish you were here … dreaming of a winter camp

When Steve lights a fire up the back

and the paints come out

it makes me think of winter camps here

And trippy canoe rides with friends

A world turned upside down

where everything seemed so right.

It makes me think of summers on the far south coast

of a treasured spot amidst the tea trees

where all we worried about was our bed, our belly and our kids

and time stood still …

and we bathed in a sea of turquoise.

The power of a simple fire.

We are overdue for a camp old friends. Overdue!

Thanks Simon. Unfortunately it looks better on screen than in real life. So what do you reckon. Have we time for a winter camp ? Just a weekend?

Where on the south coast is this Marg? A place where “time stands still” is one of the great finds and a place people like me long for. Second question: do you enhance your photos in any way or just rely on natural night (particularly thinking of the Abercrombie House ones).

ewww I knew I’d get asked that question Andrew! … It’s near Eden on the south coast. I’ll email you details. Photo question: I’m trying to shoot manual all the time now. The only thing I’ll do is check the levels in photoshop and sharpen up the whites and blacks/ the contrast in effect. Obviously the fountain shot at Abercrombie House is doctored. I was just playing with the saturation levels on layers and erasing what I didn’t want. You realise I’ll have to kill you now ha ha PS I also shoot a lot of duds which you don’t see šŸ™‚
