About

… it’s pretty simple really.

I started this blog as a way to get away from the computer.

A few months in and that goal has completely backfired. Not only am I now running my graphic design business, red moon creative, but I’m also a fully paid up member of the Blogosphere.

But … I am getting out and about more. I am looking at and appreciating things in a new way. And I am quietly feeling a bit more connected with my local community. The best bit? I‘m having a hell of a lot of fun doing it.

In the past (some of it far distant) I’ve worked as a journalist, lunch time news reader, kids show host, radio copywriter, publications manager and television arts reporter but for the last 8 years I’ve been building red moon into one of the leading design/communication studios in regional NSW.

Married to a farm boy, living in country Australia, I’ve also done my fair share of get down and dirty farm jobs. So have my two children. My daughter has since run away to study fashion and textiles in Sydney and my son – well he’s stuck with us for a little while yet.

For the time being my hope is … that this blog might inspire you to look at your own here and now a little differently.

My dream is … that in time it might take us to new destination: here&nows where I can write and photograph the sort of offbeat pieces I’m trying to do in my home town.

Anyway I hope you’ll come along for the ride. Who knows where we’ll finish up.

Enjoy!

P.S.S. Just to be clear: any places or brands I write about on this blog are not mentioned for any financial gain on my part. You won’t find any hidden advertising here.

Having said that, if I am ever offered a writing/photographic/painting gig in the Kimberleys, Turkey, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, the wilds of Tasmania or southern France … I should stop now shouldn’t I … I’ll be shouting it from the rooftops up front! But even then, I’ll write what I find to be true. x
